Action

At an IB PYP school, students are encouraged to take action as a result of their learning. In fact, one way that teachers assess the effectiveness of a unit of inquiry is by the presence and quality of student initiated action that arises during and after the unit. Action does not need to be elaborate. It can be as simple as teaching family members about what they are learning or checking out books from the library for further research. At Coyote Ridge, we try to steer kids towards service oriented action, rather than fund-raising. Through service, students experience personal growth and have opportunities to practice the attributes of the Learner Profile. If your child takes some form of action at home that is the result of their learning at school, please let your child’s teacher know!
